It is Never Too Late to Become What You Might Have Been

I'm reposting an article from earlier in the year to remind myself to continue moving forward! Happy New Year! May 2014 move you closer in leading the life you were meant to!

I made it! BlogCon 2013.

Three days filled with information to help bloggers reach out to more people with their conservative message. Being in the room with people I know only from Fox News, The Blaze and Twitter is overwhelming. Ben Howe from RedState.com is sitting to my right, author of Blacklash and Fox News contributor Deneen Borelli behind me, Steven Crowder to the front and Scott Baker of The Blaze TV is speaking now about branding on the panel.

If you told me last year I would be in this room, with these people I would have told you to stop drinking! You are delusional. But for today it is my reality, and I will do my best to soak up the information each has to share of their experience using what I can and discarding the rest.

I began blogging before my second daughter was born. In the beginning I blogged about the life changes experienced when I moved from the city to the burbs. Eventually however, when life with two kids became too hectic, blogging took a back seat.

Fast forward to 2011 and the Republican Presidential primary race. Realizing the importance of preventing a second Obama term, I dusted off the blog and began writing again. After sharing political posts with friends and family on Facebook, I submitted my blog to Sara Marie Brenner for consideration as a weekly contributor to her site. She agreed.

The writing/blogging led me to Twitter which then led me to Wayne Dupree and the Conservative Brotherhood on The 405 Radio providing me the opportunity to be here today at BlogCon2013.

I guess my whole point with writing my post is this. It doesn’t matter what your circumstances are, it doesn’t matter what your interests are, it doesn’t even matter how old you are because it is never too late to become the person you might have been. When you find something that lights your fire, something for which you have a passion, pursue it.

I didn’t really begin becoming the person I believe God intended me to be until much later in life. At first, I spent time being resentful of the circumstances I faced and of the decisions I made that prevented me from experiencing this life, this person sooner. That was a drain of joy, and a waste of my time.

Today, I am grateful instead to have found this person who always was within and who has lead me to new discoveries in life post 40.

Many people do not experience their true selves, their full potential and instead spend time blaming their circumstances on anyone other than the choices made and the fear of failure.

But the reality is, failure is but a bump in the road to success. You must risk overcoming your fear of failure, learn from it and continue on. Because eventually you will find success leading to your authentic self.

What that success and life will look like will be as unique as you are, but it will only happen if you take the risk, and try.
