Prisoner of War Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Released By Taliban in Exchange for Five Gitmo Prisoners
Today is good day!
After five years of captivity, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, was released today in exchange for five Taliban prisoners held at Guantánamo Bay.
According to the New York Times, 'all five Taliban members being released are considered to be among the most senior militants at Guantánamo and would otherwise be among the last to leave".
In a statement released by the Whitehouse, President Obama said
“Sergeant Bergdahl’s recovery is a reminder of America’s unwavering commitment to leave no man or woman in uniform behind on the battlefield.”
After Benghazi, one could argue the Obama administration's commitment to our men and women on the battlefield, but I will leave that for another time as today is about Sgt. Bergdahl and the return of an American prisoner of war.
